Akkare is a Malayalam indie rock band based in Melbourne, Australia, bringing together musicians connected by a shared love for Malayalam music, rock, and the stories that shape who we are.

Our music lives somewhere between here and there — between Melbourne and Kerala, distance and belonging, memory and the present. Inspired by our experiences as Malayalis living away from home, we explore themes of identity, nostalgia, friendship, migration, and the feeling of carrying a piece of home wherever we go.

Formed in Melbourne in 2025, Akkare brings together vocals, guitars, bass, and drums to create original Malayalam music with an indie-rock edge. We draw from the sounds we grew up with while embracing the energy and influences of the place we call home today.

For us, Akkare is more than a name. It represents that familiar feeling of looking across the distance — wondering about what lies on the other side, remembering where we came from, and finding new ways to connect with it.
